Severe Drought Impacts Albemarle, Greene, Madison; Extreme Conditions in Augusta
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The U.S. Drought Monitor reports that as of Tuesday, 37% of Virginia is experiencing severe drought, with 11% in extreme drought. Albemarle, Greene, and Madison counties are among those in severe drought. Rockingham, Shenandoah, Augusta, Page, Warren, and Frederick counties are facing extreme drought conditions. While recent rain showers have provided some relief, meteorologists indicate that significant improvements are still needed to overcome the drought situation.
