Alabama to provide $15M in grants for industrial site development
(The Center Square) – Seven economic development organizations have been awarded $15.5 million in Growing Alabama grants for industrial sites by the Renewal of Alabama Commission. Florence High School student killed in shooting
SHEFFIELD, Ala. — A 16-year-old girl was killed early Wednesday morning in Sheffield. The shooting happened around 1 a.m. in the 1000 block of S. Nashville St. According to Sheffield Police, they found the girl lying in the grass with a gunshot wound. She was taken to Helen Keller Hospital but passed away shortly after.
ALDOT announces grants for municipal airports
The Alabama Department of Transportation announced July 22 it has awarded more than $22,000 in state funding to three municipal airports for improvements. The Russellville Municipal Airport in Russellville, Ala., will receive $50,130 from the Federal Aviation Administration and $2,785 from a state grant to install runway end identifier lights for two of the airport’s runways. The City of Russellville will provide $2,785 in matching local funds for a total project value of $55,700.
