ARC: Cherokee County Seeing Slower Growth
Cherokee County remains one of the fastest growing counties in the Atlanta region, but its growth rate has slowed to under 2%, according to numbers from the Atlanta Regional Commission. According to 2024 population estimates released by the ARC, Cherokee County added 5,400 residents between April 2023 and April 2024, growing to 292,360. Cherokee County History Center Offering Free Admission to Educators
Throughout the month of July, History Cherokee is offering those working in education free admission to the Cherokee County History Center. Educators visiting the center will need to show a school ID. Friends and family visiting the center with an educator will be admitted for $5 per person. This offer is available to all teachers, school administration and support staff at all public and private educational institutions. The History Center is located at at 221 E. Marietta St. in downtown Canton. History Cherokee’s Teachers Free Admission month is sponsored by the Cobb EMC Foundation and American Book Company.
Service League Awards Scholarships to Cherokee County High School Grads
The Service League of Cherokee County recently awarded scholarships to 35 graduating seniors from local high schools. These scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $2,300, are designed to support the recipients in furthering their education, whether at a four-year university, technical school, or vocational program.
