The Cherokee County government is moving to .gov.

As of Aug. 1, 2024, Cherokee County’s website will be www.cherokeecountyga.gov and email addresses reflect the @cherokeecountyga.gov domain.

According to the county, its information technology department has been working for over a year to secure the government domain from the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and migrate the county website and all emails to .gov.

“In a time where cybersecurity threats are common, it’s important for our residents and those who do business with the county to know they are interacting with a legitimate government website,” said Cherokee County Communications Director Erika Neldner. “Our IT Services department has worked diligently on this conversion and finished ahead of the projected completion date. We appreciate their dedication to complete this monumental project.”

Affected websites include cherokeecountyga.gov (formerly cherokeega.com) and any subdomain sites like cats.cherokeecountyga.gov and fire.cherokeecountyga.gov. The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office website, sheriff.cherokeecountyga.gov, was converted to .gov in 2023.

Some county department websites will continue to use .org and .com, including Cherokee Recreation and Parks (playcherokee.org).

Information about all county departments, including links to external sites, is available at www.cherokeecountyga.gov.
