The city of Waleska is looking to hire a new city clerk/manager.

The city’s current city clerk/manager, Robyn Smith, is stepping down due to health reasons, she said. She will remain with the city in an office clerk role.

The city is in the process of interviewing candidates for the city clerk/manager role, and is still accepting applications.

The salary will be discussed during the interview, Smith said.

Smith has been Waleska’s city clerk/manager since 2017. Before that, she served as water clerk for over six years.

The city clerk/manager of Waleska is the official record keeper of the city, carries out the policies of the mayor and council, prepares the city’s annual operating budget and capital improvement plan, coordinates the conduct of municipal and special elections, works as the liaison between the public, mayor and city council, and other duties, according to the city’s website. The position reports to the mayor and council.

Smith said the city is taking applications until Sept. 6.
