The 40th annual Riverfest Arts and Crafts Festival scheduled for Sept. 28-29 in Canton has been canceled due concerns about Hurricane Helene's impact on the area, the Service League of Cherokee County announced.

“The safety and well-being of our community, vendors, concessionaires, entertainers, and attendees are our top priorities, and we believe this decision is in the best interest of all involved,” said Service League President Melissa Wehunt.

The Service League said it was working to notify all affected parties.

For updates, follow the Service League of Cherokee County and Riverfest Facebook pages.

"While we are saddened by this cancellation, we remain committed to finding alternative ways to continue supporting our mission of helping the children and families in need within our community," the organization said in a news release.

Anyone who would like to donate to the Service League can do so at https://serviceleague.net/donate-now.
