Heavy Rain Sweeps Through Lakes Region
The system that brings relief from the heat also brought devastating rain to the Lakes Region. Showers and thunderstorms began moving through the region early Wednesday morning and by the time the skies cleared in the afternoon, general areas of seven to eight inches of rain had fallen with even higher amounts in parts of Arkansas.

(AP) — Arkansas is being sued for rejecting petitions in favor of a proposed ballot measure to scale back the state’s abortion ban, with supporters asking the state Supreme Court on Tuesday to order officials to start counting more than 100,000 signatures from people who back amending the constitution. Police accuse mom of abandoning children in hot house with no food
TRUMANN, Ark. (KAIT) - Police arrested a Trumann woman after they said she abandoned three children in a home with no food or air conditioning. Poinsett County District Court Judge Ron Hunter found probable cause Monday, July 15, to charge 30-year-old Latisha Eveleen Davis with three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree.
