Mike McNeill’s Diary for Wednesday, July 17, 2024: Lithium ground troops
Some people ask, “Where’s the lithium drilling?” “Where’s the production facility construction?” “Where is this lithium boom we hear so much about? I don’t see it.” It is here, you’re just not paying attention. We’re somewhere between the “On your mark, get set” period in lithium before we hear the word “go.” OK. We’ve heard all of these companies say they plan to construct bromine and/or lithium facilities in the area. But a lot has to happen before the golden shovels turn dirt. There’s more technical analysis to be done. And those ground troops have landed. Just look at all of the white trucks around. Discovery Acquisition Services is from Katy, TX. It specializes in land leasing, surveying and drilling. Enduro Field Services of Houston makes fiberglass piping for water/wastewater installations. Osmose Utility Systems of Atlanta deals with infrastructure issues, mostly having to do with electrical transmission. Recon Geophysical Services of Dallas uses ground-penetrating radar for imaging of sub-surface features. SAExploration of Stafford, TX provides geophysical ground acquisition services from design, prospecting, drilling, and recording and analysis of field quality, All of these companies are working in our area now, renting rooms and work spaces, eating in our restaurants, and spending money in other ways while assisting their lithium/bromine industry clients. We’re glad to have them.
