Innovative tech arrives for nearly-complete research institute at UofA
Construction for the Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research at the University of Arkansas, or I3R, is nearly complete. By spring 2025, students will fill the halls of the almost 150,000-square-foot facility, which has been almost three years in the making. Sophia Nourani visited the construction site this past weekend, where university faculty and staff celebrated the arrival of a state-of-the-art MRI machine.
Melissa Givens to present Little Rock-born composer Florence Price

Soprano Melissa Givens has been singing, studying and admiring Price’s music for years. She’ll discuss and perform Price next month at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville as the next guest in the Tippy McMichael Lecture Series. Pine Bluff leadership class attends tour of multiple health care facilities
The 2024 Leadership Pine Bluff Class attended a "Health and Human Services" session in August, touring several health care facilities in Pine Bluff and Jefferson County. The first half of the day was spent at Jefferson Regional Medical Center where the group began the day hearing from Chief Financial Officer Peter Austin. The group also participated in a mini-health fair with weight, cholesterol and blood pressure checks, according to the newsletter from the Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce.
