Soaps in Depth reveals that Actress Esta TerBlanche has passed away at the age of 51. She was best known by older Virginia soap fans for her role as Gillian Andrassy on All My Children and her relationship with Ryan Lavery (Cameron Mathison). She was cast in the role in 1997, but the character was killed off when TerBlanche returned to her native land.

Her death was confirmed to TMZ by her goddaughter, Barbie Ashley, who said the actress “died unexpectedly on Thursday in her North Hollywood Home.”The LA County medical examiner reported that she passed away in her residence on July 19, but no cause of death has yet been revealed.

TerBlanche was born on January 7, 1973, and grew up in South Africa on a game farm replete with monkeys, cows, horses, sheep, warthogs, and elands. In 1991, she was crowned Miss Teen South Africa and played Bienkie Naudé Hartman on the South African drama Egoli: Place of Gold from 1992-95. She also appeared in Three Thieves and a Wedding.
