    Roanoke Firestarter is in jail

Serial arsonist, firestarter, and pyromaniac are names for people who cannot resist the urge to set fires. Web MD suggests that those who continuously start fires may have an impulse control disorder and have suffered childhood trauma.

WSLS News 10 reveals a Roanoke man is facing three felony and three misdemeanor charges for setting fires in the Downtown area. Ouinton Gifford, 42, set the first fire on July 10 around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of 1st Street and Salem Avenue.

Emotional issues could be at play

A car was found engulfed in flames, but no injuries were reported. On July 20, two trash cans near Market Street were seen burning. Gifford was arrested after surveillance was viewed and witnesses came forward. He was arrested and is being held without bond.

Hopefully, Quinton Gifford, who is in jail without bond, will be evaluated and obtain any needed services. Jail time is punishment for the crime of trash fires but does not address any possible underlying disorders.
