Cameron and Vanessa Mathison have split

Older Virginians will recall that there were many nasty divorces in Hollywood once upon a time. Today, couples make joint statements saying they still love each other and will raise their children together. General Hospital actor Cameron Mathison and his wife Vanessa are the latest duo to go this route.

Soaps in Depth shares a statement from the soap vet.

After 22 years of marriage, we have made the difficult decision to part ways,” the statement read. “We enter this new chapter with deep love, kindness, and respect for each other. We hold gratitude in our hearts for the wonderful years we shared together. Our children have been and will continue to be our highest priority, and we will forever share in our devotion and love for them.

Mathison added, "We remain friends,” it continued, “and both wish the best for one another. We sincerely appreciate your respect for our family’s privacy during this transition.”

ABC News reports that Cameron Mathison and his wife Vanessa had been married for 22 years, since 2002, and share two children: son Lucas and daughter Lelia.
