Mark Hamill spent many years in Virginia

Actor Mark Hamill is best known for portraying Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars films. He also played Kent Murray on the ABC soap General Hospital for several months in the 1970s.

Hamill was born in Oakland, California, on September 25, 1951. His father was in the Navy, so the family traveled a lot. He spent his formative years in Virginia, attending Walsingham Academy in Williamsburg. and Edgar Allan Poe Middle School in Annandale.

Wikipedia reveals that when Hamil was eleven, his family moved to Castleton Drive in San Diego, California. Still, during his first year of high school, they moved back to Virginia, where he attended Annandale High School.

In 1978, he married Marilou Hamill, with whom he has three children. Last October (2023), Hamill was one of more than 700 other Hollywood professionals who signed an open letter condemning the Palestinian militant who declared support for 2023 Israel–Ham.
