Drug dealers cannot be prosecuted for murder in Virginia

Disney Fanatic reports that some of the Hollywood elite may be facing charges for helping the actor get his hands on ketamine that is said to have ended his life. If the Friends star had been living in the Commonwealth, law enforcement would not be able to seek justice.

In 2022, there were 4290 "reported" drug deaths by the Virginia Department of Health. Unfortunately, charges cannot be pressed against dealers and suppliers who were involved, which is distressing to grieving families.

WTVR reported that in 2023, "Democrat-led Virginia Senate committee voted down a bill that would have allowed prosecutors to charge drug dealers with second-degree murder if a user dies of an overdose."

The concern is that dealers who see an overdose take place will not dial 911 out of fear of being prosecuted. In Perry's case, five people were charged thus far.
