    Local Olympic Athletes: Chesapeake native Quincy Wilson is 2nd youngest on Team USA

    CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — At just 16 years old, Chesapeake native and track phenom Quincy Wilson is the second youngest member of Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

    Born on January 8, 2008, he’s just a few months older than fellow 16-year-old, gymnast Hezly Rivera .

    The 5-foot-9 Wilson could be included in the 4x400m relay. He was added to the team’s relay pool after finishing sixth in the 400 meters at the U.S. Olympic Trials.

    On the way to the final, he broke a 42-year-old under-18 world record twice , with runs of 44.66 in round one and 44.59 in the semi-finals.

    Wilson left Chesapeake during middle school to pursue track and field opportunities in the D.C. area. He currently attends the Bullis School, a private school in Potomac, Maryland.

    His dad Roy played football at the U.S. Naval Academy, his mother played basketball and soccer collegiately, and his sister Kadence runs track at James Madison University.

    Track & Field events at the Paris Olympics begin August 1. The heats for the 4×400 relay begin August 8.
