CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — At this point, Chesapeake track and field star Grant Holloway needs little introduction.

The 6-foot-2 Grassfield High alum has been a dominant force in hurdles for the past few years now, winning multiple world championships and setting world records .

However, the 26-year-old is still in search of his first Olympic gold, after taking silver in the 110m hurdles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

At qualifying for Paris earlier this year in Eugene, Oregon, Holloway ran a world-leading time of 12.86 seconds , his second-fastest time ever. Holloway’s Team USA teammates, Freddie Crittenden (12.93) and Daniel Roberts (12.96) also ran sub-13 seconds. That was the first 110m hurdle race ever with three runners under 13 seconds.

Holloway, who was an eight-time NCAA champion at Florida, chose track despite being a 4-star football wide receiver recruit. His parents recently talked to WAVY’s Marielena Balouris (who’s in Paris for the games) about Holloway’s athletic journey.

You can watch Holloway in the 110m hurdles on these dates:

    • Monday, June 24 (round 1)
    • Thursday, June 27 (semifinals)
    • Friday, June 28 (finals)
