VA Coast Guard Station No Longer Manned 24/7 Due to Crew Shortage
The United States Coast Guard (USCG) Station Milford Haven, near Gwynn Island, Virginia, on the Middle Peninsula, no longer has crews on duty 24/7 to make water rescues. It has been operating with a reduced staff since April 31, manned by Coast Guard members working scheduled shifts rather than all-day duty.

Running Adventure Hits the Delmarva Islands
Not many people in the Bay region have actually visited the more remote islands of Smith and Tangier, so imagine how few have gone running on those islands. Salisbury, Maryland, resident and race organizer Trent Swanson is passionate about running and travel. Having put on some of the Eastern Shore’s most popular running events, he has cultivated a community of over 500 participants for ultrarunning events such as the Tuckahoe 25k and the Algonquin 50k races, as well as weekly running meetups. As for traveling, Swanson has been to each of the 50 states, and some 65 countries. But when it came to his own backyard on the Delmarva Peninsula, he realized he had a lot of exploring to do.

New Flood Sensors Give Real-Time Data at Annapolis City Dock

Full Baltimore Channel Reopens at Key Bridge Wreck Site
Less than 2.5 months after an unprecedented disaster in the Chesapeake Bay region, a vital maritime passage has been brought back to life. The Fort McHenry Federal Channel, the only Patapsco River channel large enough for the ultralarge vessels that serve the Port of Baltimore, was fully reopened Monday. It became completely blocked when the container ship Dali crashed into the Key Bridge on March 26 and brought much of the bridge down with it.
