Wasps have invaded my lawn - IDEAS??

Chester Cheddar
Help! My front yard is full of wasps. Two types - red paper wasps and normal, run of the mill yellow wasps. I need to get rid of them. I have kids who want to play in the yard and at the moment there are literally HUNDREDS of wasps, hovering, landing on blades of grass, going in and out of the lawn. Last night I treated the grass with insecticide. No luck. They’re back by the hundreds! Now before the “but I love wasps! Wasps are natural and wonderful” people jump in - just NO. It’s hot as BLAZES in TX, and I want my kids to be able to play in the yard in the evening or run through the sprinklers. To answer your questions: No, there is no nest anywhere on our property. I’ve checked and double checked and triple checked. No, as far as I can tell, nothing in the grass is blooming. No, these are not burrowing wasps. These are nests-under-overhangs guys. And the issue isn’t where they live. It’s our yard. No, they’re not in our neighbors’ lawns. At all. It’s our lawn. But WHY???? The GOOGLE gives stupid answers, like “are you sure it’s not a dragonfly?” And “but could it be a dragonfly?” And “look for nests around.” I know a mudder-flipping wasp when I see one, and no nests nearby. It’s something in my lawn they love and I need them to go away forever and ever. If anyone can solve I would love you for all of your days and send you happy mojo for all of your days. And assert to anyone listening that you are the wisest of the wise in all of the land of Texas. OMG help. The heat. The insanity of Texas. The WASPSSSSSS in my front yard!!!!
