CHESTER — A Chester man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his father. The Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff's Criminal Investigation Unit arrested Drew Bernard Meyer, 32, of Chester, charging him with first degree murder in the death of his father, Wayne Michael Meyer, 65, also of Chester.

According to police reports, on May 17, deputies were dispatched to Auckland Way in Chester, for a report of a cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, deputies found Wayne Meyer deceased under "suspicious circumstances."

The Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit assumed the investigation and identified Drew Meyer as the primary suspect in the isolated event. A short time later he was apprehended by an allied police agency.

Meyer is being held without bond pending his preliminary hearing on Aug. 7.

In a statement released to the public, Sheriff Gary Hofmann said, “Our thoughts are with the Meyer family during this incredibly difficult time. We are committed to protecting the privacy of the family as they navigate this tragic event. This was an isolated domestic situation, and we appreciate the public’s trust in our investigators to bring this case to a swift conclusion. We are grateful that Drew Meyer will now be processed through the criminal justice system, ensuring that justice is served.”
