Wall's Piper Cordes highlights South Dakota performers at Wednesday's National High School Finals Rodeo
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Wall’s Piper Cordes highlighted South Dakota’s performers at Wednesday’s National High School Finals Rodeo. Cordes ran a 20.494 seconds in Wednesday’s evening pole bending performance, the third fastest time of the night. Cordes is currently No. 3 the second go-round standings for the pole bending.
KOTA Cares: Belle Fourche cheerleaders rally community support to make it to NYC
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Every year, thousands of cheerleaders around the country audition to be chosen to cheer in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. This year seven Belle Fourche cheerleaders have been selected to represent their town in New York, but they only have until September 1 to come up with the funds to attend. So, they are asking their community for help.

Clark man sentenced to 4 years in state prison for vehicular battery & impact statements read in court
{KXLG – Watertown, SD} Dustin Beynon, 28, of Clark, SD, was sentenced today by Judge Carmen Means to 10 years in the state prison with six years suspended and four days credit for time served for vehicular battery committed on June 4, 2023, with the charge of driving under the influence dismissed by the prosecution in a motion on May 15, 2024, when the no contest plea was entered on the vehicular battery.
STICKS BEAT TYNDALL TWICE TO ADVANCE TO STATE
The 14-and-under Sticks needed to beat Tyndall twice on Wednesday if they were going to return to the VFW State Tournament. They did, and it wasn’t even close. Playing in the championship round of the Region 7B Tournament the evening of July 17, Freeman/Marion walloped the host team, winning both games by a combined score of 24-3. The Sticks, who lost to Tyndall in 4-3 in the semifinals on Tuesday and 3-2 during the regular season, staved off elimination in Wednesday’s first game thanks to a 13-2 victory and then punched their return ticket to state with an 11-1 win to close out the tournament.

Tense Moments for Paullina Thursday
A large law enforcement presence went to Paullina Thursday Morning. Shortly before 10 am, O’Brien County officials received a call from an individual claiming to have shot another person and said they would commit further acts of violence against other individuals and law enforcement. Law enforcement responded to the 4500 block of Red Wood Ave., northeast of Paullina. Precautions were made for nearby homes and businesses, and Mill Creek campground was evacuated.
