Speirs Fire Remains 3% Contained with More Thunderstorms, Lightning Forecasted
DUTCH JOHN, Utah — Recent increasing moisture trends throughout the Speirs Fire area have led to a decrease in visible fire activity over the last few days. The fire has not grown since Wednesday and remains at 759 acres and 3% contained, with 283 personnel working to control the fire.

Foundation turns dirt for education center building in Ophir
An idea almost seven years in the making, the Tooele Education Foundation broke ground for the Ophir Canyon Outdoor Learning Lodge in Ophir Canyon on the afternoon of July 10. State law gave the assets of the former town of Ophir, including Ophir Park, to the Tooele County School District when the town dissolved in October 2013. The school district asked the Tooele Education Foundation to manage the property for the district.

MARYSVALE, Utah (KUTV) — Officials said the Silver King Fire has reached 78% containment at 18,074 acres. The containment was announced Thursday morning. Officials said the perimeter of the fire is stable, meaning personnel have a secure eye on it. This means Thursday night is projected to be the last night shift for personnel, officials said.
