West Liberty-Salem Volleyball Teams Sweep Triad
On Saturday, the West Liberty-Salem volleyball teams delivered impressive performances against Triad, securing victories in all three matches. The varsity team won decisively in straight sets, with scores of 25-18, 25-11, and 25-20. Key players included Londyn Loveless, who was flawless on 17 serves and contributed 4 aces, 3 kills, and 16 assists, and Naomi Cole, who also served perfectly with 4 aces, 4 digs, 9 kills, and 2 blocks. Kiersten Stoll and Lilli Heminger added significant contributions with strong serving and attacking performances. The Varsity team is now 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Ohio Heritage Conference (OHC).

Poland resident Michael Kapics recently recorded a hole-in-one during a Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania event in Warren. “It was an incredibly fun day all around, and I was grateful to have this happen at an event put on by a great organization where I was surrounded by so many great people,” Kapics said. “The real memories I will take from the day are the wonderful reactions of my teammates, the executives from the Builders Association, and all of the other players that came up to me during and after the round.”
New Middletown resident faces five felony charges after reported Howland bar fight
Howland police officers were dispatched to Leon’s bar at 111 Niles Cortland Road, about 9:35 p.m. Aug. 17 to find an unconscious man on the ground in the parking lot. It appeared the man, identified as a 58-year-old from New Middletown, had blood on the back of his head, apparently from blunt force trauma, the police report stated.

Powhatan Point Park hosts seventh annual Suicide Awareness Car Show
The seventh annual Suicide Awareness Car Show took place on Sunday at Powhatan Point Park to raise awareness about this important issue. All proceeds from the event go to Mission 22, a non-profit organization that combats the ever-rising veteran suicide rate, which claims the lives of 22 active military members and veterans each day. Larry Kinney Jr. and Crystal Lucas started the event after losing loved ones to suicide.
