Mansfield school board OKs deficit-reduction plan for state review
MANSFIELD — The Mansfield City School District hopes previously approved spending reductions are enough to pass financial muster with the state. The district’s school board on Tuesday morning, meeting in special session, unanimously approved a written plan for the Ohio Dept. of Education & Workforce that it said will eliminate a looming deficit identified in its five-year financial forecast.
36th annual festival returns to downtown Mount Vernon
The Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival will welcome country chart-topper Lonestar, local favorite Six Miles to Nellie and Central Ohio icons Phil Dirt and the Dozers as headline musical acts for this year’s event, Aug. 8-11 on the Public Square and streets of downtown Mount Vernon. Headline concerts are at 8:30 p.m. each night. This marks the 36th year for this event, presented by Ariel Corporation and Park National Bank as part of the 2024 Mount Vernon Presents calendar.

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF1 tornado in Warren County near Morrow Tuesday morning around 1:40am. It was on the ground for 8.1 miles moving into Clinton County near Blanchester. They say the peak winds were 95mph. With that tornado, the National Weather Service has officially confirmed 65 tornadoes in the state of Ohio so far this year. That is the most ever on record going back to 1950. 1992 is second with 62 tornadoes and just last year in 2023 we had 60.
