FIDF Ohio chapter part of Israel visit, provides ‘connection’ post-Oct. 7
About 30 people involved with the Central Region of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces took a mission trip to Israel from June 23 through June 27. When creating the itinerary and goals for the trip, the FIDF thought about how it could best share the stories from Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, and help people understand that this is a historical time, Tamir Oppenheim, vice president of the central region of the FIDF, told the Columbus Jewish News July 17. The same itinerary has been used four times and is planned to be used again later this year. The Central Region of the group includes the Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Dallas chapters.

Knox County Park District gets grant to repave Kokosing Gap Trail
MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Park District will use a $1.14 million Transportation Alternatives Program grant to repave the Kokosing Gap Trail. The grant represents 80% of the project cost.
