Taking The Stage: DJ K-Meta Talks Broccoli City Fest, Everything Nice And Lessons He’s Learned Along The Way
Can we get some love for the DJ? As thousands descend upon Washington, D.C. for the 2024 Broccoli City Festival, there will be no shortage of people eager to see Megan Thee Stallion and Victoria Monét take the stage, but this celebration of music, community and culture extends far beyond the musical performances. From a vendor spillage sponsored by Black + Forth to a special edition of Trapsoul Karaoke, this year’s Broccoli City Festival is a complete, immersive experience. In the midst of this Audi Field takeover, DJs Bo and K-Meta of Everything Nice will hit the stage for the second year in a row. Not to mention, the duo also has its hands in the Broccoli City Festival’s official kickoff party with Coco Butter and Issa Rae. Before the weekend got going, DJ K-Meta chopped it up with Culture Editor Ryan Shepard about everything from DJing off of iTunes and Windows Media Player to taking Everything Nice to New York for the first time.

26 July 2024- In its first year, the Maryland Grain Producers Association and Maryland Department of Agriculture’s Maryland’s Best program, have named Frederick’s McClintock Distilling the winner of the 2024 Maryland’s Best Whiskey competition. It is for whiskeys produced in the state, made with at least 50 percent or more local grain.
US Environmental Protection Agency Awards Millions for Hempcrete Development
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded a grant of approximately $6.2 million to the Nashville-based nonprofit Hemp Building Institute. The grant will support the development of hempcrete, a sustainable building material made from hemp. This funding is part of the EPA’s broader $160 million initiative to promote environmentally friendly technologies across various industries.
Montgomery Parks offers new Adaptive Mountain Biking Program
The program, tailored for individuals with disabilities, takes place August 4, 2024. WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks is offering a new Adaptive Mountain Biking Program, designed exclusively for individuals with disabilities to experience the thrill of mountain biking. The free program takes place Sunday, August 4, 2024, 10 a.m.–2:30 p.m. at Wheaton Regional Park. Rides are offered in 90-minute time slots. Three certified adaptive mountain bike leaders will instruct and assist riders and experienced mountain bikers will ride alongside all participants. The program is open to people age 16 and older and advanced registration is required.

This new, captivating art piece titled Water and Warmth features aquatic creatures, woodland animals, mandalas, and children.
