The Wyoming Tribune Eagle is excited to announce the launch of a new podcast: The Perch.

Through this free podcast, the WTE hopes to make local news more accessible to a wider audience while pursuing a different and more intimate form of storytelling.

The podcast will typically be split into three main sections: a local news roundup, a deep dive into one of the WTE reporters’ stories, and a lighthearted conversation about arts and entertainment between some of the newsroom staff.

The first episode, which went live this morning, focuses on the national housing crisis through the lens of the work that Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County is doing on a local level. We took a microphone to the construction site of one of the homes and met with the families that are helping to build their future houses.

Reporters also provide updates on the 2015 Coin Shop murder case, Wyoming’s hemp industry’s lawsuit against the state over Delta-8 legislation, and share their takes on this year’s Frontier Nights music lineup for Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Next week will feature the voices and sounds from the weekend festivities as CFD 2024 kicks off in Wyoming’s capital city.

The Perch is available wherever you get your podcasts except for Apple Podcasts, for now. As it is a new podcast, it still must go through an approval process and should be available through Apple in the next few days. It can also be accessed on our website without a paywall from the homepage under the “Features” button in the navigation bar or at wyomingnews.com/the_perch .

From our perch overlooking downtown Cheyenne at West Lincolnway, 17th Street and Bent Avenue, the Wyoming Tribune Eagle’s journalists plan to keep you posted on the latest and most pressing issues in Cheyenne and Laramie County.

To provide feedback or suggestions to help form this podcast in its early stages, send an email to news@wyomingnews.com.
