    Mother of victim in fatal Oxford Drive shooting speaks out about DA’s decision not to prosecute

    CHEYENNE — Last month, Laramie County District Attorney Sylvia Hackl confirmed that her office will not be prosecuting the man who shot and killed 38-year-old Derrick Montoya.

    At his mother’s apartment on Oxford Drive, Derrick was shot multiple times and died within a minute of suffering his injuries on March 30, according to his death certificate, which is dated June 7. The document was provided to the Wyoming Tribune Eagle by his mother, Sidney Montoya.
