Jack in the Box Plots a Chicago Comeback with 125 New Locations Planned for City Expansion
Jack in the Box, the fast-food chain known for its round-the-clock offerings, has confirmed its plans to return to the Chicago area next year, after a hiatus that lasted several decades. This news comes straight from the CEO of Jack in the Box, Darin Harris, who in an interview with the Chicago Tribune, stated, "It’s been about 40 to 50 years since our last time in Chicago." The San Diego-based company plans to launch eight company-owned stores mostly in the suburbs, with one restaurant slated for a spot near Midway Airport.

Data: Radio Online; Chart: Axios VisualsFor the second month in a row, Chicago's classic rock station "The Drive" is at the top of Chicago's radio ratings.The big picture: "The Drive" has supplanted WLIT ("The Lite"), which held the top spot for all of last year.The biggest jump: V103. The perennial powerhouse R&B station climbed up to tie "The Lite" for second place.The biggest drop: Talk radio. WGN-AM took a tumble, losing almost a full percentage point (3.8 to 3.0) and dropping out of the top 10.WBEZ-FM (NPR) also continued its drop after a tumultuous first half of 2024 (2.0 to 1.6).
