Matt Bowen shares which center he'd like the Bears to target in free agency

(670 The Score) It’s no secret that the Bears need to address their center position this offseason, as Lucas Patrick, Cody Whitehair and Dan Feeney didn’t perform consistently at a high level as Chicago went 7-10 this past season.

With that in mind, ESPN analyst Matt Bowen believes the Bears would be wise to pursue center Connor Williams, a six-year NFL veteran who played for the Dolphins for the past two seasons.

Williams, 26, started nine games for Miami in 2023 before he suffered a season-ending ACL tear in December. If Williams’ health and recovery looks to be on the right track, Bowen believes he would be a good fit for the Bears when he hits free agency in March.

“He’s someone that’s excellent in space,” Bowen said. “He’s more of a positional blocker, but especially when he climbs to the second level, he’s very good. So how does a knee (injury) impact him? But again, if you’re the Bears, you might get a discount out of him because of that injury.

“When this guy is healthy, he’s a pretty good football player.”
