(670 The Score) As the Bears explore their future at quarterback this offseason, there's plenty to consider.

One aspect the Bears must weigh in the mind of FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer is the financial element. Justin Fields, the three-year starting quarterback in Chicago, is entering the fourth year of his rookie contract in 2024 and is set to earn a considerable salary in 2025, whether it's on his fifth-year option or a contract extension.

If the Bears were to select USC star Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick, they'd be resetting the clock for their quarterback’s contract. The financial factors and potential returns in a trade of Fields are also worth prioritizing in selecting Williams with the No. 1 pick, Glazer told the Mully & Haugh Show on Wednesday morning.

“I think you can get a lot for Justin Fields,” Glazer said. “Listen, when you don’t have a quarterback in this league, life is terrible. So, I think people would be offering a lot for Justin Fields. But again, you're now setting yourself back (a few) more years where you don’t have to kill your cap for the quarterback.

“I would take Caleb and trade Justin."

"I don't think there's much of an argument in my opinion," Glazer added.

The 24-year-old Fields has thrown for 6,674 yards, 40 touchdowns and 30 interceptions over 40 games with the Bears. He was the No. 11 overall pick of the Bears in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Williams won the Heisman Trophy in 2022. He's widely considered the projected No. 1 pick in this draft class.

The Bears landed the No. 1 overall pick from the NFL-worst Panthers (2-15), who dealt the selection to Chicago as part of their a trade last March that landed Carolina the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
