(670 The Score) With the 2023 NFL season over after the Chiefs’ thrilling overtime win against the 49ers in Super Bowl 58 on Sunday, the focus will now turn to the offseason.

At the center of the conversation in the weeks to come will be the Bears, who hold the No. 1 and No. 9 overall picks in the NFL Draft. The Bears’ most important order of business is addressing their quarterback situation, and with that in mind, all signs are that they’ll trade current quarterback Justin Fields and land his replacement in the NFL Draft, Tribune reporter Brad Biggs said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Monday morning.

“It’s no longer a question – and I wrote this coming out of the Senior Bowl – it’s not a question of are they going to draft a quarterback or build around Justin?” Biggs said. “The question now is – it’s very clear – which quarterback are they going to draft? The Fields thing has run its course. But you watch that (Super Bowl) and it’s going to be difficult for them, it’s difficult for all the teams that are looking for their own Patrick Mahomes, to get that guy that’s near that level. But you’ve got to have that player if you want annually chase a championship. You have to have an elite quarterback, a guy that can make up for the shortcomings of the players around him.”

Fields completed 61.4% of his passes for 2,562 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 13 games while adding 657 rushing yards and four scores on the ground. His 46.1 QBR ranked 23rd out of 30 qualifying quarterbacks in the NFL.

USC star quarterback Caleb Williams is widely projected to be the No. 1 overall pick, while North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye is projected to be taken shortly after that.
