(670 The Score) Every NFL team is looking to find a quarterback as special as Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes or to have theirs perform at Mahomes’ level.

That’s certainly the case for the Bears, who hold the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. As the Bears continue to assess their quarterback situation this offseason, Dan Bernstein and Laurence Holmes had a word of advice for them on their show Monday, a day after Mahomes won his third Super Bowl by leading the Chiefs to a 25-22 overtime win against the 49ers.

Don’t go looking for a quarterback with the thought that he could be the next Mahomes, because he won’t be. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

“As it pertains to what happened last night, I do think it’s a dangerous game that the NFL has to play, that NFL general managers have to play, and it’s you’re trying hard to chase that,” Holmes said.

“My retort was that’s one of one. I get that trying to chase Patrick Mahomes is what everyone wants, to have one of their own of that … I think that there are two guys that could’ve done what he did last night, maybe. And that’s a maybe. Josh Allen is one of them, and the Joe Burrow is the other, if he’s healthy.

“My larger point is you might think that you’re out here chasing and you’re trying to find the next Mahomes. I think that we’re not giving Mahomes enough credit for how good he is.

“Everyone thinks that they’re going to get themselves a Mahomes, and there’s one. There’s one guy.”

    Bernstein echoed that sentiment.

“This idea of don’t chase unicorns is really good advice,” Bernstein said.

    “There’s only one of those.”
