(670 The Score) As Dan Bernstein and Laurence Holmes discussed on their show Tuesday, it’s an odd time for Bulls fans these days.

The team is in the mix to make the postseason while young guards Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu have showcased promising progress, but executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas’ unwavering commitment to chasing that back-end playoff berth with an aging core and middling team isn’t moving the needle on the excitement front. Many fans would rather the focus have already shifted to the future rather than the present, but by standing pat at the trade deadline, the Bulls didn’t take that approach.

At issue for fans is that Karnisovas and the front office haven’t detailed a path to a title or taken any meaningful first step toward that, Bernstein said.

“We have not been given a path to a championship,” Bernstein said. “All we’ve been asking for is what are we doing and why are we doing it? We’ve asked AK directly. Being competitive, being a tough out, you don’t root for that. No fandom roots for that.”

After a 136-126 win against the Hawks on Monday, the Bulls sit at 26-28 and in ninth place in the East. That currently puts them in line to battle in the play-in tournament for one of the final two playoff berths in the East.
