(670 The Score) The Bears made a move at quarterback Wednesday — just not the one that's been anticipated.

The Bears signed veteran quarterback Brett Rypien to a one-year deal, the team announced.

Rypien, 27, has been in the NFL since 2019, playing in 10 career games and making four starts. He spent part of last season with the Seahawks alongside new Bears offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and quarterbacks coach Kerry Joseph.

Rypien is set to fill a reserve role for the Bears at quarterback, a position that has yet to be settled for them as they look ahead to the 2024 season.

The Bears on Wednesday also officially announced their signings of running back D'Andre Swift, tight end Gerald Everett, safety Jonathan Owens and offensive lineman Matt Pryor. Each of those agreements is pending a physical.

The Bears will introduce veteran safety Kevin Byard — who signed a two-year deal earlier this week — in a press conference Thursday at Halas Hall.
