(670 The Score) Bulls guard Coby White has avoided serious injury after he landed hard on his right hip Wednesday, coach Billy Donovan said Thursday evening.

An MRI revealed that White has suffered a mild right hip strain, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported earlier in the day. White will miss the Bulls' game against the Clippers on Thursday evening at the United Center, but there's a possibility he could play Saturday, when Chicago hosts Washington.

"It's not severe," Donovan said. "It's just basically his hip. It's probably going to be when he starts to feel comfortable to get back to playing.

"All the imaging and the stuff that they did came back relatively clean. He is dealing with, obviously, discomfort and soreness there. So it's just going to be a matter of how quickly and soon he can get over that."

White exited in the final seconds of regulation of the Bulls’ eventual win against the Pacers in overtime Wednesday after taking a hard fall when he had a layup attempt blocked on a chaotic transition sequence. Pacers forward Pascal Siakam landed on White after making the block, and White’s leg and hip bent awkwardly. He went down in a great deal of pain and soon left for the locker room.

The 24-year-old White has had a breakout campaign, averaging 19.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. All of those are career-high marks.
