(670 The Score) Right-hander Mike Clevinger has agreed to return to the White Sox on a one-year deal, according to multiple reports Monday afternoon.

Clevinger, 33, had a 3.77 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 131 1/3 innings across 24 starts for the White Sox in 2023, when he led the team with nine wins. Clevinger will provide depth to a weak rotation that’s full of unproven pitchers and players looking to resurrect their careers after struggles in recent seasons.

Clevinger came under a great deal of scrutiny in spring training in 2023 as MLB investigated domestic violence allegations against him. The league didn’t impose any discipline on Clevinger, though he agreed to voluntarily submit to evaluations by MLB and MLB Players Association joint treatment boards that cover domestic violence and drugs of abuse.

The White Sox dropped to 0-4 with a 9-0 loss to the Braves on Monday afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field.
