(670 The Score) On Opening Day on March 28 at Guaranteed Rate Field, the White Sox were blanked in a 1-0 loss to the Tigers. It set the tone for a historically poor start to their season.

Through 10 games, the White Sox (1-9) have scored just 16 runs. It’s the fewest runs in 10 games for the franchise since 1968 (13) and the fewest by any MLB club since the Expos in 2004, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

The White Sox have been shut out four times already and have tallied four or fewer hits in five games. Their season run total is the same figure that the Diamondbacks recorded during their 16-1 win over the Rockies on Opening Day.

The White Sox are seven runs shy of the Twins (23 runs) for second-to-last in total runs, though Minnesota has played two fewer games. The White Sox have posted a slash line of .190/.267/.303 as a team.

The White Sox's struggles have come at the start of a rebuilding season in which they weren't projected to have success. Following a 61-101 campaign in 2023, general manager Chris Getz began turning over the roster in the offseason with a focus on adding better defensive players, but most of them also had track records of little offensive production.

Also hurting the White Sox is that they've already lost two of their best hitters – center fielder Luis Robert Jr. (hip flexor) and designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (left adbuctor strain) – to injuries early this season.

The White Sox visit the Guardians on Tuesday evening in Cleveland in the second game of their series.
