(670 The Score) Bulls coach Billy Donovan’s name has landed in the rumor mill following a seismic move in the college basketball landscape.

In the wake of news breaking Sunday night that coach John Calipari will leave Kentucky for Arkansas, the Wildcats have made Donovan their top target as they look to fill their coaching vacancy, Pete Thamel of ESPN reported. Whether Donovan has interest in the job is what remains a mystery.
Donovan was an assistant at Kentucky from 1989-’94 under Rick Pitino and later coached 19 seasons at Florida, where he led the Gators to a pair of national championships before he left for the NBA in 2015 to coach the Oklahoma City Thunder.

As of late Monday, there was “no movement” or outreach from Kentucky into the “Bulls sphere,” K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Tuesday morning. Of course, that doesn’t mean all that much as the early stages of a coaching search are usually done through back channels.

So what are the chances of the 58-year-old Donovan leaving Chicago for Lexington? He's under contract with the Bulls for two more seasons after this one is complete.

“I can see it going either way,” Johnson said. “If you’re asking me to make a prediction, I think he stays with the Bulls. That’s just kind of what I’ve always heard from Billy, is how happy he is here in Chicago, how much he enjoys his partnership with Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley, how much he values his relationship with the Reinsdorfs and the ownership group and how committed he is to his players and his staff. That’s all I’ve heard from Billy Donovan and that’s all I heard when I covered him twice a year when he was in Oklahoma City, was just how much he enjoyed coaching the NBA. I can’t speak for the pull of Kentucky and what that job means (to him).”
