CHICAGO (670 The Score) – The White Sox shared better news on the injury front Friday evening.

While they’re dealing with serious injuries, star center fielder Luis Robert Jr. (right hip flexor) and third baseman Yoan Moncada (left adductor) aren’t expected to be out as long as initially fear. General manager Chris Getz believes Robert can return in about six weeks, which would be late May, and he’s hopeful that Moncada can return after the All-Star break in the latter half of July.

Robert has been out since April 5, and there was concern from some that he could miss two months or even more. Moncada suffered his injury Tuesday, and the White Sox initially announced his timeline for a recovery would be three to six months. Their hope is now that he’ll return on the front end of that timeline.

“This is all some positive news,” Getz said. “We will certainly take that.”

Designated hitter Eloy Jimenez is also out with an adductor injury, though he’s much closer to a return than Robert and Moncada.

“We think he is about at the 75 percent readiness level," manager Pedro Grifol said. “We want him at 85 percent or higher before we let him go.”

Entering play Friday, the White Sox were 2-10 and averaging an MLB-worst 2.4 runs per game.

“Look, these three guys are impactful players for our major league club," Getz said of the injured players. "It's certainly better for us when they are out there than when they are not. When you have injuries of this significance, it's heart-wrenching. There is a period when you are down and disappointed. You must be resilient and focus each day on getting better. I know those guys are intent on getting healthy and back on the field as soon as they can.”
