(670 The Score) The worst offense is baseball is on the verge of adding a little help.

The White Sox are nearing a deal with free-agent outfielder Tommy Pham, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported Sunday evening. Because he’s out of options, Pham would join the White Sox on a minor league deal. That would allow him to report to the minor leagues to work his way into game form without being exposed to waivers, as he’s out of options.

Once Pham finds his rhythm and is ready, he’d be promoted to help spark an offense that’s averaging an MLB-low 2.3 runs per game. Those struggles have been the central factor in the White Sox starting an MLB-worst 2-13 after their 11-4 loss to the Reds on Sunday.

Pham, 36, hit .256 with 16 homers, 68 RBIs and a .774 OPS in 129 games split between the Mets and Diamondbacks in 2023. He has a career .786 OPS in 10 MLB seasons.

The impending addition of Pham comes as White Sox designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (adductor), star center fielder Luis Robert Jr. (hip) and third baseman Yoan Moncada (adductor) are all sidelined by injuries.

Jimenez appears to be nearing a return, as he has ramped up his activity recently. Robert is expected to be out until late May, while the White Sox are hopeful that Moncada can return just after the All-Star break in the latter half of July.
