(670 The Score) After eight years in Chicago, former Bears offensive lineman Cody Whitehair is landing in Las Vegas.

Whitehair has agreed to a one-year deal with Raiders worth up to $3 million, a source said Monday. He'll rejoin former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who accepted the same position with the Raiders this offseason.

Whitehair, 31, was released by the Bears in February after eight seasons with the team. He played in 124 games with Chicago, making 118 starts. But Whitehair was moved to a reserve role last season as the Bears reshaped their offensive line without him.

At the end of last season, Whitehair acknowledged the likelihood that his time with the Bears was nearing its end while also sharing his intention to continue on with his career.

“I’m a team-first guy and whatever is better for the team, that’s what I’m going to do,” Whitehair said. “I served as a backup the rest of the year and made the best of it.

“There were some ups and downs, obviously. Was asked to go in the backup role, and that’s tough. As a starter here for seven years, it’s tough. But I made the best of it and going to continue to play, for sure.”

The Bears addressed their center position by acquiring veteran offensive lineman Ryan Bates from the Bills in exchange for a fifth-round pick before later signing former Rams center Coleman Shelton to a one-year deal. Bates and Shelton are expected to compete for the starting center role.

At present, the current construction of the Bears' offensive line is Braxton Jones at left tackle, Teven Jenkins at left guard, Nate Davis at right guard and Darnell Wright at right tackle while the center position is an open competition.

The Bears kicked off their offseason program Monday at Halas Hall.
