(670 The Score) The Bears felt strongly about Washington receiver prospect Rome Odunze as they held the No. 9 overall pick in the first round of this NFL Draft, so much so that they considered trading up to get him.

But luckily for Chicago, Odunze fell to the Bears, who will now start preparing plans to incorporate him as a weapon in an offense that also features two more dynamic receivers in DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. With that in mind, part of the reason the Bears liked Odunze and his upside so much was his versatility.

Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer, who previously coached at Washington last season, told the Parkins & Spiegel Show that Odunze has been prepared to work any role in the Bears’ offense.

“He can play it all,” DeBoer said. “He’s got X (receiver) characters. I know that’s where we always started his whole base with him. But the things we can do in the slot – and we’ve put guys outside. There were different ways we needed to move him around and didn’t want him to always be in the same position, field boundary, slot, No. 1 outside receiver. We moved him around to just mix up the look, so there was a lot of film and opponents wouldn’t know where he’d be.

“He can run the tunnel screens, he can run a fly sweep, he can do it all out there. He can run short, he can go deep, go over the middle. He’s got the whole package, he’s got the whole game. I think in the end, he’s a matchup problem in a lot of ways. He’s got those instincts and he can feel defenders.”

The 6-foot-3, 212-pound Odunze hauled in 92 receptions for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns as Washington made a run to the national championship game last season.

In Chicago, Odunze has joined forces with quarterback Caleb Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

"We can do special things," Odunze said.
