Bears waive punter Trenton Gill

(670 The Score) There will be no punting competition for the Bears, who waived two-year starting punter Trenton Gill on Wednesday.

Gill's exit came after the team selected Iowa punter Tory Taylor with a fourth-round pick in the NFL Draft on Saturday. Gill averaged 46.1 yards per punt on 133 attempts across two seasons in Chicago. He was a seventh-round pick of the Bears in 2022.

Taylor averaged 48.2 yards per punt in 2023 and pinned 43.1% of his career punts in college inside the 20-yard line. He earned the Ray Guy Award as the nation's top punter last season.

The Bears will begin rookie minicamp on May 10 at Halas Hall.
