CHICAGO (670 The Score) – The Bulls’ small chance to move up in the NBA Draft order didn’t cash in the lottery.

The Bulls landed the No. 11 overall pick in the NBA Draft after their combinations didn’t match the ping-pong ball numbers that were drawn in the lottery at McCormick Place Convention Center on Sunday afternoon. Entering the day, Chicago had a 9.4% chance to leap into the top four and a 2.0% chance to land the No. 1 overall pick. They didn’t move from their pre-lottery 11th slot.

Bulls forward Julian Phillips represented the team on stage at the lottery.

“We believe in Arturas (Karnisovas) to do what’s best for the organization,” Phillips said when asked about the team’s future outlook. “I’ve loved it with all the guys that we’ve had here. This past year, they were all really great guys, but we definitely love to move forward in whatever direction it is or whatever’s best for the team.”

The Hawks landed the No. 1 pick, while the Wizards, Rockets and Spurs followed them at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.

The Bulls last jumped up into the lottery in 2020, when they moved from seventh to fourth, where they selected forward Patrick Williams.

The No. 11 pick is the only selection the Bulls currently hold in this draft, as their second-rounder is currently in the hands of the 76ers after a string of trades over the past few years.

The Trail Blazers owe the Bulls a first-round pick, but they didn’t convey it this season because it’s lottery-protected. It remains lottery-protected through 2028, when it will turn into a second-round pick that’s conveyed to Chicago in that draft if needed.

The Bulls are coming off a 39-43 season in which they missed the playoffs after losing to the Heat in the play-in game for the No. 8 seed.

The NBA Draft will be held June 26-27. In a change from the norm, it’s a two-day event.
