(670 The Score) The Cubs have a new addition for their beleaguered, struggling bullpen.

Chicago acquired righty reliever Tyson Miller from Seattle in exchange for minor league infielder Jake Slaughter, Jeff Passan of ESPN reported late Monday night. The 28-year-old Miller is expected to join the big league Cubs soon once the deal is made official.

The Mariners recently designated Miller for assignment even though he was having a solid start to the season. He had posted a 3.09 ERA and 0.77 WHIP in nine appearances.

The Cubs originally selected Miller in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He appeared in two games for Chicago in 2020 before the Rangers claimed him off waivers from the Cubs in 2021.

Slaughter, 27, was hitting .297 with five homers, 17 RBIs and an .879 OPS in 32 games at Triple-A Iowa this season.

The Cubs bullpen has underperformed for much of the season, as it had a 4.58 ERA entering play Monday.
