CHICAGO (670 The Score) – White Sox star center fielder Luis Robert Jr. is ramping up his rehab from a right hip flexor strain.

Robert is expected to play in games toward the end of this week at the White Sox’s complex in Glendale, Arizona. After that, the plan is for Robert to embark on a minor league rehab assignment.

“We are going to push him upwards of 90% (running capacity),” manager Pedro Grifol said. “We hope to get him in some games later this week and see how he responds.”

Robert hasn’t played since April 5. He had two homers and four RBIs in the first seven games before being sidelined by his injury.

Robert had a minor setback in his recovery when he felt tightness in his flexor area in the first week of May, but he has progressed well since then, Grifol said. Robert also suffered a hip flexor tear in 2021 and was sidelined for three months. This injury wasn’t a complete tear, so his timeline isn’t as long for a return.

“We have all of our strength and conditioning and sports science people, everybody there monitoring all that stuff,” Grifol said. "We're in a good spot."
