Homers by Jon Berti and Aaron Judge powered the New York Yankees past the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon. The 7-2 win completed a three-game sweep for the Yankees, who held the White Sox to five runs in the series. New York starter Carlos Rodon threw six solid innings against his former team.

There were a few bright spots for Chicago in the series and this particular game. Newly acquired outfielder Corey Julks made his second start and an excellent first impression for the White Sox. Julks got the Pale Hose on the board in the second inning with a solo homer off Rodon.

After a walk to Korey Lee, Zach Remillard tripled when the ball caromed off the bottom of the left field wall.

    The White Sox Happened

However, a mental lapse cost the White Sox a potential run when Remillard got picked off third base, ending the inning. The second frame represented the extent of the White Sox offense on the afternoon. A one-out double by Danny Mendick in the seventh and the first two hitters in the ninth reaching base were the only scoring opportunities. Yankees pitching scattered six hits, plunked Paul DeJong, and issued two walks.

Julks provided another highlight in the sixth when he robbed Jose Trevino of a homer run in left field.

Trevino got the Yankees on the board in the second with a two-run single. Sox starter Chris Flexen almost escaped a fourth-inning jam, but Berti blasted a three-homer with two on and two out, breaking the 2-2 tie. In the following inning, Flexen walked Juan Soto and allowed another homer, this time to Aaron Judge, ending his afternoon.

    News and Notes

White Sox third baseman Bryan Ramos will start a rehab assignment in Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday. Ramos landed on the injured list Wednesday.

White Sox relievers have compiled a 1.16 ERA, allowing four earned runs in the last 31 innings pitched.

Reports have emerged that the White Sox are promoting prospects Noah Schulz and Jacob Gonzalez to Double-A.
