Chicago Blackhawks forward Lukas Reichel had another highlight-reel moment at the 2024 IIHF World Championship on Saturday. The play only shows up as an assist in the box score, but his quick instincts and impressive speed display helped Germany score a critical goal in its 4-2 win over Poland.

The Germans appeared destined for a comfortable victory when Yasin Ehilz lit the lamp to make it a 3-0 game early in the third period. But Poland pushed back with a pair of late goals, swinging the game's momentum in the last 10 minutes.

As Poland looked for a late equalizer, Reichel made a beautiful end-to-end play that helped put the game away. The 22-year-old used a defensive-zone stick lift to jar the puck free from Poland and quickly bolted into transition.

With the puck loose in the neutral zone, Reichel turned on the burners and split Poland's defenders to create a breakaway chance. Reichel's bid was denied, but a trailing JJ Peterka buried the rebound to make it 4-2 Germany.

While Reichel didn't convert on his breakaway opportunity, the play was reminiscent of his effort in the Blackhawks' final game of the 2023-24 season.

Though Reichel is coming off an underwhelming season with the Blackhawks, such plays showcase his high-end ability when he's on his game. The Blackhawks certainly hope to see more of them over the next two seasons, as Reichel recently signed a two-year contract extension before heading to the 2024 IIHF Worlds.

Reichel and Germany return to action Tuesday when they face France at 5:20 AM CT. The Blackhawks forward looks to continue his strong recent play as he has five points (two goals, three assists) through four games in the tournament.
