The Baltimore Orioles' late clutch hitting delivered the dagger in the Chicago White Sox seventh loss in their last eight games. Chicago’s third straight defeat featured a four-run comeback, but the South Siders bullpen couldn't hold off the Orioles for long. The loss dropped the White Sox to 15-37, the worst record in baseball.

Pale Hose starter Chris Flexen struggled again, recording only 14 outs. The righty has pitched to a 9.45 ERA in his last three outings, allowing 14 earned runs in 13.1. Jordan Westburg got Baltimore on the board with a two-out double in the third inning. The O’s chased Flexen in the fifth when Gunnar Henderson launched a two-run, two-out homer.

The Sox starter put the next two runners on base before giving way to recent call-up Justin Anderson.

Ryan Mountcastle greeted Anderson with an RBI ground-rule double to make it a 4-0 game.

    A Brief Shred of Hope

However, the White Sox didn't let those runs go answered in the bottom half of the inning. Nicky Lopez and Tommy Pham's back-to-back one-out singles set up Andrew Vaughn’s run-scoring double. Paul DeJong capped off the rally with a two-out two-run single.

Vaughn struck again and knotted the score at four in the seventh when he belted a solo homer to right center.

    One of the Best

The resilient Orioles again showed why they're one of the game’s best offenses. Pedro Grifol brought Michael Kopech in to relieve John Brebbia with two on and two outs to face left-handed Adley Rutschman. Rutschman delivered again with a two-run base hit to put Baltimore ahead for good.

All six Orioles runs scored with two outs.

    News and Notes

Before the game, the White Sox placed reliever Dominic Leone on the injured list and recalled reliever Justin Anderson .

MLB notified the White Sox that the game-ending interference called on Andrew Vaughn in Friday night's ballgame was incorrect.
