The Chicago Blackhawks have added another 2023 draft pick to their signed pool of prospects. After signing third-round pick Nick Lardis back in early April, the Hawks have inked second-round pick Martin Misiak to a three-year, entry-level contract. Misiak's contract carries an annual salary cap hit of $878,333 through the 2026-27 season.

Due to his age and allegiance to the OHL Erie Otters, Misiak will likely return to the OHL in 2024-25. Like Lardis, Misiak will turn 20 years old next year, meaning he'll be able to join the AHL Rockford IceHogs at the end of the season and full-time entering 2025-26. His contract will also likely slide unless he somehow makes the NHL roster in 2024-25.

The 6-foot-2 winger had a successful first season with Erie. After being drafted out of the USHL, Misiak posted 47 points (23 goals, 25 assists) in his first OHL season. Misiak will look to improve on those numbers in 2024-25.

The Blackhawks will look to continue developing their forward talent in the coming seasons. Several defensemen have developed nicely, with players like Alex Vlasic, Kevin Korchinski, Wyatt Kaiser, and Isaak Phillips making an impact at the NHL level. It also appears Ethan Del Mastro and Nolan Allen could quickly join that group as well. If the forward corps develops at a similar trajectory, the Hawks' prospect pool could be deeper than ever before.
